The meaning of the name Sebastian is “revered,” and this Sebastian is absolutely revered for the way he upholds his wonderful spirit, even when times are tough. A three to four-year-old Shepherd mix, he arrived at the Duplin County Animal Shelter in North Carolina on April 3rd as a stray. Understandably, he was scared at first, but over time he got a little more comfortable with his surroundings and started to blossom. Sadly, Sebastian was facing a serious problem: he had heartworms and needed urgent life-saving treatment.
Marika Krausova with K-9 Lifesavers in Stafford, Virginia, contacted RADAR on April 11th to see if we could help. With the shelter overflowing with dogs, Sebastian would be euthanized the next day if someone couldn’t save him. The rescue was ready to pull him, but they needed assistance with his heartworm treatment. We agreed to help, and he was safe! After Sebastian’s initial vet visit, it was found that he had advanced heartworms, and his health was steadily declining. He had his treatment on May 21st and May 22nd.
Sebastian was described to us as having so much love to give, and that he loves to snuggle and go for walks. “He is very go lucky guy whose tongue is always hanging happy-style on the side. He loves people and is very, very friendly to people of all ages and sizes,” Marika told us. Click here to view more photos of Sebastian.
RADAR paid $250 towards Sebastian’s heartworm treatment costs.
