Presenting Sheeba: the dog, the problem and the solution.
The dog. Sheeba is a six-year-old Collie-Shepherd mix. She is described as being such a good girl, who is sweet and loves attention. She is docile and obedient. She is good with other dogs, and even cats. Click here to view more photos of Sheeba.
The problem. Sheeba and her two sisters were surrendered to the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on June 8th. Their owner’s reason was that he had too many dogs. Sheeba not only lost her home, but also tested positive for heartworms. By mid-August, time was running out for Sheeba. When Peppertree Rescue in New York offered to take her on August 27th, there was still one obstacle: the cost of her heartworm treatment.
The Solution. RADAR’s help! Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, immediately sought our assistance. We agreed, and Sheeba was safe! She had her heartworm treatment done on September 11th.
RADAR paid all of Sheeba’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $249.
UPDATE In mid-September, Sheeba wandered off from her foster home. She and her foster family were evacuated from the coastal area of South Carolina due to Hurricane Florence. They were staying in Simpsonville, SC when she found a way out of the yard. While she has been sighted numerous times, she has not yet been captured. Several people are actively working to get trap her, so that she can continue with her second chance.
UPDATE! Sheeba is safe and sound!!
