Presenting Sienna: the dog, the problem and the solution.

The dog. Sienna is a four to five-year-old Bully Breed mix. She was very shy when she first arrived at the shelter, but she quickly proved that she adores other dogs! She comes right out of her shell, and has a ball! Her confidence level goes up when she’s with a canine companion. Click here to view more photos of Sienna.

The problem. Sienna was found starving, and listed on Facebook for free. Many animal advocates advised the finder to take her to the shelter instead of giving her away due the large amount of dog fighting in the area. Thankfully, they listened, and Sienna was taken to the Lee County Animal Shelter in South Carolina on February 2nd. Because she was heartworm positive, she was at big disadvantage for a rescue to take her due to the cost of the treatment.

The Solution. On February 20th, Brandi Sowell, RADAR’s liaison with the Lee County Animal Shelter, asked us for help with Sienna. Suruluna Animal Rescue in New York would take her if we could assist with her vetting costs. We agreed! On April 6th, she had x-rays taken, and received her heartworm treatments on April 7th and 8th.

RADAR paid all of Sienna’s x-ray and heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $283.
