Silk is as sweet as she is sassy! On November 10th, this six-year-old Chihuahua mix ended up at the Greenwood County Animal Shelter in South Carolina with her friend, a six-year-old Lab mix named Dottie. Even though the pair surely had looks on their side, their owner decided to surrender them. As if that wasn’t enough, both Silk and Dottie tested positive for heartworm disease.
On December 3rd, Mary Lou Seymour with the Shelter Animals Advocates and its HeartBeat Goes On program reached out to RADAR in hopes that we might be able to help with the costs of both Silk’s and Dottie’s heartworm treatment. Dog Star Rescue in Connecticut would take both dogs if funding could be found for their treatment. We agreed, and they got their treatment on December 11th!
December Clark, Mary Lou’s partner with Shelter Animal Advocates and The HeartBeat Goes On program said this about Silk: “She’s a nice girl. She has no issues. She’s quiet. She’d rather sit on her bed than anything else. Her only flaw is that she is NOT willing to sit for photos!” As it turns out, this sweet, sensible girl is not into flash photography! RADAR paid all of Silk’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $287.
UPDATE! All funds for Silk have been raised! Thank you!
