Simon

Simon says, “Save me!” A two-year-old Shepherd mix, Simon entered the Sampson County Animal Shelter in North Carolina on April 13th as a stray. For over four long months, Simon waited for an adopter or rescue. Unfortunately, he had the misfortune of being heartworm positive, and Simon’s time was running out.

When the Animal Sanctuary Society rescue in New Jersey expressed interest in taking Simon on September 2nd, a volunteer with the Sampson County Friends For Animals in North Carolina reached out to RADAR for help. If we would cover the costs of Simon’s heartworm treatment, the rescue would pull him. He received his heartworm treatment on September 29th.

We were told this about Simon: “He has playful energy! Simon’s preference for human companionship and attention would make him a good fit as an only dog in an older household without younger children. Simon enjoys being outside. He seems to know some basic commands. Simon likes to play and most likely would do well with balls, frisbees and going on runs. Simon will enjoy being in a household providing more engagement, stimulation and space to play.” To see more photos of Simon, click here.

RADAR paid $250 towards the heartworm treatment costs for Simon.
