This Sonny would like nothing more than to find his forever home and have his adopter tell him, a la Sonny & Cher,”I’ve Got You Babe!” It was no April Fools’ Day joke when Sonny, a one-year-old Lab mix, arrived as a stray on April 1st at the Harnett County Animal Shelter in North Carolina. While he was full of love, he was also full of heartworms.
On April 9th, Karen Steers of Peak Lab Rescue in North Carolina reached out to RADAR to see if we would be able to assist with the costs of Sonny’s heartworm treatment. If we could help, the rescue would take him. We agreed and Sonny was safe! He received his heartworm treatment on May 22nd and 23rd.
“Sonny is a gentle giant who is great with other dogs and children,” Karen told us. “He loves to be petted, and likes to chase a ball outside. He is crate trained, house trained and knows how to sit, lay down and shake. Sonny needs to go to a home with a fenced in yard so he can play and run free. He also needs to go to a home without cats. Although he is large, Sonny is very laid-back compared to other labs his age and size. Sonny deserves a loving family to call his own and will make a great family dog!” To see more photos of Sonny, click here.
RADAR paid all $309 of the heartworm treatment costs for Sonny.
UPDATE! Sonny has been adopted!
