Hi, my name is Spark! I’m about two years old and an Australian Cattle Dog mix. It was way back in early April that I was picked up as a stray and taken to the Union County Animal Shelter in South Carolina. There I spent many long months looking at the greener grass beyond the metal bars of my kennel, watching all the other dogs find their forever homes. While I was there I found out I had something called heartworm disease, which made it more difficult to find someone to give me a forever home.
Although my blue eyes caught the attention of many a passersby, no one wanted to give me my second chance. On June 19th, some nice people at RADAR provided an offer to help with my costly heartworm treatment so that a rescue might be willing to take me. Then on July 1st, the kind people of Halfway There Rescue in South Carolina got me out of my prison! I was close to death, but now I see hope and I am full of life! I went to the vet on July 29th, and had my heartworm treatments done on August 19th and September 23rd.
My foster parents, who call me Spartacus, gave me a warm bed to sleep in, toys to play with, and a backyard that includes doggie friends. While I am here, I am trying hard to learn some proper manners. I have learned how to sit, lay down, stay, come, and shake with both paws! As long as I am here I will learn so much more so that I can make a great impression on my future parents. I love other dogs, both big and small, and love wrestling and chasing them all around.
My dream is that I will soon have a bed to call my own, toys in my own toy box, playmates that will run with me in our own backyard, and a Mom and Dad who will love me as if I was their child! I know my parents are out there somewhere, they just haven’t seen me yet! Click here to look at more photos of me!
RADAR paid $260 towards the initial vetting and heartworm treatment costs for Spark.
