Sometimes a sad story has a happy ending. And that’s certainly the case with Sparky and Crystal. When the owner of these 12-year-old Chihuahua sisters died, their fate would be forever changed. The family surrendered them to the Mercer County Animal Shelter in West Virginia on October 11th. Although Sparky’s health was relatively good, Crystal needed dental care and had two tumors that needed to be removed.
The next day, October 12th, the rescue Paws for Seniors in Virginia expressed interest in taking the dynamic duo if they could get help with the vetting costs. The shelter immediately contacted RADAR to request our assistance for Sparky and Crystal. We agreed, which secured their rescue! Their vetting was done on October 14th.
“These two wiggle butts take everything in stride!” Paws For Seniors told us, “They are always ready to give kisses and their tails never stop wagging! Sparky is a bit more laid back than Crystal. On October 30th, at an adoption event, when a woman looking for an older dog to adopt heard the story of Sparky and Crystal, she couldn’t help but fall in love with their adorable faces! She adopted them both and took them home to a working farm where they will have plenty of space to run and play, or just lounge. They will have a healthy and happy life, being well cared for by their Mom who is an experienced pet owner and has vet tech experience.” Click here to view more photos of Sparky.
RADAR paid all of Sparky’s initial vetting costs, which totaled $48.
