Spartacus was an innocent victim of a divorce. When his owners parted ways, Spartacus and the family’s other dog, Molly, were surrendered to the Duplin County Animal Shelter in North Carolina on June 9th. Spartacus, a three-year-old Boxer-Bully Breed mix, and eight-year-old Molly were very bonded. The shelter was able to keep them together in the same kennel. Unfortunately for Spartacus, he tested heartworm positive.
On June 13th, shelter animal advocate Jackie West requested our help for Spartacus. We provided an offer to assist with his heartworm treatment costs as an incentive for a rescue to take him. On June 17th, Adoption First Animal Rescue in North Carolina agreed to take Spartacus! He began his heartworm treatment medications on June 27th.
We were told this about Spartacus: “He is the definition of a gentle giant. If you can’t find him, he is likely laying his head on someone’s lap and loving on them. He loves to just be loved, and he adores everyone.” What happened with Molly? The rescue found an adopter for Molly, so Spartacus and Molly were able to leave the shelter together. But wait, there’s more! Molly’s adopter decided to foster Spartacus! Oh, and there’s one more item to share! After several weeks in his foster home, Spartacus was adopted by his foster family, so Spartacus and Molly will stay together in their new home! Click here to view more photos of Spartacus.
RADAR paid all $113 for the heartworm treatment medications for Spartacus.
UPDATE! Spartacus has been adopted by his foster family! And even better?? He gets to stay with his buddy, Molly!
