Instead of seeking shelter from the storm, in this case, it was more like getting Storm from shelter! A three-year-old stunning Hound mix, Storm was found as a stray on September 27th and taken to the Blount County Animal Center shelter in Tennessee. It was hard to believe that a dog like Storm, who was so calm, friendly and quiet, had not been reclaimed. Unfortunately, Storm was heartworm positive, which greatly limited his rescue or adoption options.

On September 27th, Kristin Baksa, the shelter’s rescue coordinator, sought RADAR’s help with Storm’s heartworm treatment costs. “He will make a great family dog if we can his heartworm treatment completed,” Kristin told us. We agreed to assist. Storm received his heartworm treatment on November 2nd.

“Storm was a ‘nervous not nippy’ shelter resident at first,” Kristin shared with us. “After a few days he decided two walks a day, two meals a day, and a bed weren’t so bad. Storm is calm and rather dignified. He just takes it all in. We’ve never heard him bark!” To see more photos of Storm, click here.

RADAR paid $250 towards the heartworm treatment costs for Storm.
