Suki and seven of her dog siblings were surrendered to the Fairfield County Animal Control and Adoption Center in South Carolina on January 8th after a welfare check was conducted on the owner’s property and the living conditions were deemed unacceptable. Several of the dogs appeared unhealthy, including Suki who had very visible ribs. Suki, a small two-year-old Boxer-Bully Breed mix, impressed everyone with her big, affectionate eyes and sweet nature. Rescues teamed up to save the dogs but Suki would need some financial help as well. Suki tested positive for heartworms, and treating heartworms makes a big dent in a rescue’s budget.
Key To Lion’s Heart Rescue in Maryland told the shelter that they wanted to rescue Suki if her heartworms could be treated. We were contacted by the shelter and the rescue on January 15th, asking if we could become part of ‘Team Save Suki.” We agreed to fund Suki’s heartworm treatment and on January 29th and 30th Suki had her back-to-back treatments.
“Suki is the most affectionate little 35 pound two-year-old girl you will meet,” the rescue said. “She is always looking for a lap to snuggle in or someone to give kisses to. She is great with everyone and everything, and loves to follow her human siblings around everywhere. She has been great with all dogs she has met and seemed to be fine with cats that she was introduced to. Suki will be the most loyal and loving companion to any family.” Be sure to view more photos in Suki’s gallery.
RADAR paid all of Suki’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $233.
