It would have been a bummer not to help Summer! On August 15th, we received an urgent request from Laura Roberts and her Road Home Rescue in North Carolina. Summer, a three-year-old Beagle mix, was going to be euthanized the next day. Summer was a stray who had arrived at the Duplin County Animal Shelter in North Carolina on August 8th, and tested heartworm positive.

If RADAR could cover Summer’s heartworm treatment costs, Laura would pull Her. We agreed and Summer was safe! She received her heartworm treatment on August 29th. Following her treatment, Summer went on to the Burlington County Animal Alliance in New Jersey to find her forever home.

“Summer is a terrific dog,” Laura told us. “She is dog friendly and likes people. Really a very sweet girl who’s very calm and quiet. She had been used to breed, then was dumped. I just had to help her.” Her new foster Mom in New Jersey says, “She is very quiet, but loves to stay by her person’s side. She is a little timid at first, but once you gain her trust she wants nothing but love. She is patient with my infant, loves all dogs of all sizes and also doesn’t mind my diva cats around the house.” To see more photos of Summer, click here.

RADAR paid all $183 of the heartworm treatment costs for Summer.
