Sydney is as spunky as she is sweet! A two- to three-year-old Lab mix, she arrived at the Allendale County Shelter in South Carolina as a stray way back on July 18th. Where she came from or what she’d been through, nobody knew. But her new situation didn’t seem to worry her—she wore a big grin on her face and made friends with anyone who crossed her path. Sadly, there was one big problem hanging over Sydney’s head. She was heartworm positive, which would hinder her chances of being rescued or adopted.
On October 19th, Karen Steers with Peak Lab Rescue in North Carolina reached out to RADAR to ask for our help with the heartworm treatment costs for Sydney. If we could help, the rescue would take her. We agreed, and she was safe! After some delays in transportation, Sydney was able to start on doxycycline in early December to prepare her for injections. Sydney had her heartworm treatment done on January 10th and 11th.
“Sydney loves to give kisses and cuddle up as close as she can get!” we were told. “Her favorite place to fall asleep is in a laundry basket full of clothes, or a small corner of a closet; she loves those close cuddly spaces! She also loves to fetch a ball and run around. She has been so sweet to every person and dog she has met.” Click here to view more photos of Sydney.
RADAR paid all of Sydney’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $276.
