Sydney is a large and lovable silky-coated Retriever mix gal. She arrived as a stray at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter on February 20th. Little is known about Sydney, but we do know that Sydney is around four years old, a very friendly dog and that she tested heartworm positive at the shelter. With Sydney’s size (74 pounds), her heartworm treatment was going to be even more expensive than usual but she needed that treatment to find a rescue and live a healthy life.
Home At Last Dog Rescue in Pennsylvania wanted to find Sydney a good home but needed her heartworms to be treated first. Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, asked RADAR to fund Sydney’s heartworm treatment costs on March 11th so that Sydney could be rescued. We agreed to pay for Sydney’s treatment costs. She was able to complete her heartworm treatment on March 24th.
“Sydney’s soft chocolate coat draws you to her,” Susan said. “Her beautiful personality and temperament makes everyone want to take her home! A skilled leash walker, she is calm, tolerant and polite when meeting other dogs, both male and female. She loves to be near her family, and is loving and affectionate with anyone who meets her. Sydney is a gentle, sweet girl ready for a furever family to give her the love and attention she deserves.” Be sure to view more photos in Sydney’s gallery.
RADAR paid all of Sydney’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $371.
