Make no bones about it, T-Bone needed help. It was so sad to see this sweet little senior in a shelter. An eight-year-old Miniature Pinscher, T-Bone was surrendered to the Surry County Animal Control shelter in North Carolina on September 23rd. His owner was moving and an elderly relative could not take care of him, so off to this high-kill shelter T-Bone went, where owner surrenders can be euthanized at any time. Although he was relatively well cared for, he had hypothyroidism, for which he was being treated until his owner stopped giving the medicine.
On September 26th, RADAR received a request for assistance with T-Bone from Mayberry 4 Paws in North Carolina, an organization that helps facilitate and find rescues for the at-risk dogs at this shelter. We agreed to help with T-Bone’s vetting costs to encourage a rescue to take him. On October 3rd, Mayberry 4 Paws faced a life or death decision on T-Bone: pull him or he would be euthanized at once. With our help, Mayberry 4 Paws pulled T-Bone and placed him in temporary boarding.
T-Bone had his vetting done October 20th. We were told this about T-Bone: “He is terrified by the change in his circumstances. He has quickly learned the routine to limit being handled, but is allowing himself to be touched and leashed as needed. He gets along fine with other small dogs. He behaves well, is friendly, and acts younger than his age.” To see more photos of T-Bone, click here.
RADAR paid $250 towards the vetting and temporary boarding costs for T-Bone.
