Hi, I’m Tammie Jo, and I’m a 10-year-old Lab mix! I was a little lost for a while, but on July 6th, I became friends with a Chihuahua and a Yorkie. Their owner knew that I didn’t have a home, so they took me to the Smyth County Animal Shelter in Virginia. I was so thankful for the roof over my head, the food they provided, and the new friends that I made at the shelter. While it was great for a while, I was still searching for my forever home.
On July 12th, Kathryn Haddock, a Smyth County Animal Shelter Advocate, asked RADAR if they could help me. Kathryn knew that I had medical issues that needed to be dealt with in order for someone to rescue or adopt me. RADAR agreed to provide assistance for the cost of my initial vetting, and on July 17th, the wonderful people at City Dogs Rescue pulled me from the shelter. During my stay at the vet from then until August 6th, I had my vet exam, and I received regular vaccines and testing. Unfortunately, I found out that I was positive for Lyme disease. I also had dermatitis and an ear infection. The good news is, I’m well on my way to feeling better!
My friends at City Dogs Rescue said this about me: “At the shelter, staff reported that in addition to being good with other dogs, Tammie Jo is definitely people friendly and very sweet. She is a calm, affectionate senior in need of a dependable retirement home. She is a shelter favorite!” To see more photos of Tammie Jo, click here.
RADAR paid $200 towards the initial vetting costs for Tammie Jo.
