The owners of Tasha and Kudos were moving, but they were unable to take the dogs along. So on September 16th, both dogs were surrendered to the Aiken County Animal Shelter in South Carolina. Tasha, a ten-year-old Bully Breed mix, and Kudos, a five-year-old Boxer-Bully Breed blend, were both heartworm positive. Bad enough to find an adopter or rescue with their breed mix and Tasha’s age, but having heartworms meant a rescue commitment would be their only way out of the shelter alive.
Luckily, these dogs had someone determined to save them. Mary Lou Seymour with The Heart Beat Goes On program went to work to find a rescue for Tasha and Kudos. But by September 26th, with no rescue interest and their time about up for Tasha and Kudos, Shelter Animals Advocates, the parent organization of The Heart Beat Goes On, opted to make one last effort to save Tasha and Kudos. They would take both dogs if RADAR could help with their heartworm treatment costs. We agreed and Tasha and Kudos were safe!
On September 20th, both Tasha and Kudos had their heartworm treatment done. December Clark, Mary Lou’s partner with The Heart Beat Goes On, had this to share with us about Tasha: “She is a sweet, gentle and super friendly girl. She is very easygoing. She loves to snuggle!” Click here to view more photos of Tasha.
RADAR paid all of Tasha’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $375.
