Tasha’s sole mission in life is to cuddle as much as possible! So when this one-year-old Lab mix entered the Columbus County Animal Shelter in North Carolina as a stray on August 11th, she must have felt so alone and abandoned. To make matters worse, she was heartworm positive, which only complicated her chances of being rescued, adopted and cuddled.
Karen Steers with Peak Lab Rescue in North Carolina reached out to RADAR on August 19th to ask for our assistance with the heartworm treatment costs for Tasha. If we could help, the rescue would take her. Of course we would assist! Tasha had her treatments done on September 24th and 25th.
“Tasha is at her happiest when laying down next to (or on top of) those who she loves,” the rescue noted. “Tasha is great on a leash and wags her tail so fast she’s at risk of falling over when she goes for walks! She is calm when new people approach her and once Tasha realizes they’re not going to hurt her, she happily turns any stranger into a friend.” Click here to view more photos of Tasha.
RADAR paid all of Tasha’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $197.
UPDATE! Tasha has been adopted! Her new name is Sadie! Her forever Mom, Maureen told us this, “Sadie (formerly Tasha) is doing great. She is just getting through her heartworm treatment and regaining her energy. She didn’t like that she couldn’t go on walks or play in the yard with the kids. But now we have started slowly introducing exercise again. She fits into this house really well. My kids adore Sadie. Her personality is so cute. She is eager to please, easily trained, and very, very loving and gentle. We are happy to be her forever home. Thank you to Mrs. Dymond’s class for selecting her for heartworm treatment support. We are all very grateful!”
UPDATE! All funds for Tasha have been raised! Thank you!
