We don’t know if this Taylor is named after singer Taylor Swift, but we do know that Swift was named after singer James Taylor, and that she grew up about 35 miles from where RADAR is headquartered. The things you learn from reading these posts! Meanwhile, back to Taylor the dog. On April 8th, five-year-old Hound mix Taylor arrived at the Martin County Animal Shelter in North Carolina with a gunshot wound. She was looking for food in someone’s yard, and they shot her! The shelter took her to the vet to get the gunshot wound treated.

Taylor was returned to the shelter following her treatment. Sadly, no one ever came to the shelter to claim her. After surviving and recovering from the shooting, Taylor now faced being euthanized at the shelter. On April 29th Rainbow Animal Rescue in North Carolina asked for RADAR’s help. We agreed to assist with Taylor. During her initial vetting she tested heartworm positive. RADAR covered her treatment that took place on June 17th and 18th.

The vet tech who treated Taylor for her gunshot wound was largely responsible for her rescue from the shelter. She fell in love with Taylor and became her guardian angel, persuading others to help save Taylor. She described Taylor as being ever so sweet and humble! Click here to view more photos of Taylor.

RADAR paid all of Taylor’s heartworm treatment costs, totaling $205.
