While this Teddy is no bear, he did have to bear a great deal of stress and pain. The stress came from being just an eight-month-old Terrier mix at the Miami-Dade Animal Services shelter in Florida. The pain came from a severe case of demodectic mange that needed immediate treatment. What Teddy needed most was to get out of that shelter ASAP.
Teddy’s dreadful condition caught the attention of RADAR supporter Jenn Kleme. On October 14th, Jenn asked if RADAR might be able to assist. RADAR immediately offered to commit up to $200 to assist with Teddy’s vet care as an incentive for a rescue to take him.
Fur Angels Rescue (FAR) in Florida agreed to take Teddy if they could find a foster home for him. On October 15th, with a temporary foster found, FAR committed to taking Teddy! On October 16th, FAR took Teddy from the shelter to the vet to get his initial treatment for his mange. The vet gave FAR an extraordinarily generous discount on Teddy’s bill, reducing it to only $199. RADAR also paid for his neuter and bath treatments, which cost $122.
RADAR covered the full $321 cost for Teddy’s veterinary treatment.
