Howdy all! I’m Teddy, and thanks to some kind folks coming together to help me, I’m now ready… for a new forever home. I arrived at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina along with my Chihuahua brothers (who are now safe) on September 14th. While our family loved us, they could no longer care for us due to their own health issues. Being a Bully Breed mix would make it harder for me to find a new home but I also had another issue: at only two-years-old I was already heartworm positive.
My owners told the shelter folks I was an awesome dog, and the shelter folks soon came to agree. On October 31st, One Life to Live Rescue and Adoption in Pennsylvania had an opening for me, but only if I could be treated for my heartworms first. Could funds be found to eradicate my heartworms? Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, knew just what to do. She asked RADAR to assist, and thanks to their donors, they committed to helping me! My treatment was delayed a bit because my temperature was too high. Finally, I had my heartworm treatments on November 19th and December 17th.
I know you want to know more about me, so with the help of Susan, I’ve written up a summary for my new future home: “Move-in Quality! With over two years experience caring for a family with kids, I’ve got this pet job down pat! An excellent inside canine companion, I’m housebroken, adore car rides, love to go and do and, frankly, have never met a stranger! When I am not sharing my love with others, I’m decent enough at playing fetch (can’t guarantee I’ll always bring the ball back to you though!) and simply enjoy the benefit of a fenced-in area where I can run and play and act like the kind-hearted goofball that I am.” Be sure to view more photos in my gallery, and check out my handsome brindle coat!!
RADAR paid all $531 of the heartworm treatment costs for Teddy.
UPDATE! All funds for Teddy have been raised! Thank you!
