This Teresa, a two- to three-year-old Lab mix, might have given Mother Teresa a run for her money in terms of kindness! Teresa arrived at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on August 8th. Little was known about where Teresa had come from, as she’d been brought into the shelter by a member of the community who’d picked her up as a stray. Sadly, Teresa tested positive for heartworms, which would make it harder for her to be rescued or adopted.
Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, reached out to RADAR on August 29th. Home At Last Dog Rescue in Pennsylvania was interested in saving Teresa, but they needed help with the cost of her heartworm treatment in order to pull her from the shelter. We gladly agreed to help, and Teresa was safe! She got her treatment on September 17th.
Teresa’s calm and friendly demeanor was apparent during her time at the shelter. Her smiling face and wagging tail won hearts over with ease. “Teresa is an absolute love,” we were told, “and a huge snuggler!” To see more photos of Teresa, click here.
RADAR paid all $287 of the heartworm treatment costs for Teresa.
