In Norse mythology Thor is the name of the god associated with thunder, lightning and storms. While we’re not sure how this Thor reacts to storms, we do know that he was under the weather with his future all cloudy when he arrived at the Vance County Animal Control shelter in North Carolina in mid-February. About one to two years old and a Boxer-Labrador Retriever mix, Thor was found as a stray wandering in someone’s yard. He had multiple abrasions, for which he received treatment. But there was an even more serious problem: Thor tested heartworm positive.
On April 2nd, Christine Zois with the Feline Canine Fellowship Coalition in South Carolina requested RADAR’s assistance with Thor’s heartworm treatment costs so that her rescue could take him. We agreed to assist with whatever wasn’t covered through pledges and other funding. By doing so, Thor was able to leave the shelter the next day for transport to his temporary foster home. Thor received his heartworm treatment on April 21st and 22nd, and RADAR provided the remaining unfunded $184 of his treatment costs.
His temporary foster mom had this to say about Thor: “He is just a wonderful and loving dog! He’s a bit on the timid side, but will make a wonderful family addition.” And that’s just what happened on May 2nd, when Thor was adopted! Click here to view more photos of Thor.
RADAR paid $184 towards Thor’s heartworm treatment costs.
