Sugar Ray Leonard was a famous boxer, but while Tiger Ray is also part Boxer, he’s no fighter! However, he was down for the count with his life on the line at the Harnett County Animal Shelter in North Carolina. A 13-year-old Boxer-Bulldog mix, Tiger Ray was dumped at the shelter in mid-February. While senior dogs are always more at risk, Tiger Ray’s life was all the more vulnerable at this small and crowded rural shelter.
On February 25th Chris Leone, a RADAR supporter and advocate for the Harnett County Animal Shelter dogs, asked us to help save Tiger Ray. We agreed to provide an offer to help cover his vetting costs as an incentive for a rescue to take him. On March 4th, Wags Rescue & Referral in Pennsylvania agreed to take Tiger Ray. Hooray! He was now safely out of the shelter and in a temporary foster home. He received his initial vetting and neutering on March 12th.
“Tiger Ray is the sweetest dog ever!” his temporary foster mom told us. “He’s great with kids, dogs and cats. He’s so well behaved. Tiger Ray is a huge Velcro dog who always has to be right next to me! He loves to cuddle, and would make a great addition any family. It was love at first sight!” To view more photos of Tiger Ray, click here.
RADAR paid all of Tiger Ray’s initial vetting and neutering costs, which totaled $199.
