Poor Timmy has had a terrible time of it. This three to four-year old Treeing Walker Coonhound mix arrived as a stray at the Columbus County Animal Shelter in North Carolina on January 14th. Timmy’s tale of woe included having a lemon-sized mass on his chest and, unknown at the time, another mass behind his one eye, and he was also heartworm positive. He faced long odds to get out of the shelter alive.
Networking like crazy, the volunteers with the Friends of Columbus County, NC Animals spread the urgent word about Timmy. When one of RADAR’s supporters told us of Timmy’s plight on Janaury 15th, we immediately offered $200 towards his vet care costs as an incentive for a rescue to take Timmy. Despite RADAR’s offer and other pledges, the days continued to pass, and Timmy’s time was up. On January 22nd, with only hours to spare, Puppy Love Rescue in Wisconsin agreed to take him!
The very next day Timmy was taken to the vet. In addition to his initial vetting, he was carefully diagnosed, monitored and treated until he was stable and well enough for his multiple surgeries, which took place on February 15th. He had both the mass on his chest and the one behind his eye removed (his eye was also removed – he was already blind in the eye). He was also neutered at the same time. Timmy is still recovering at the vet as he awaits a foster home and transport to Puppy Love Rescue in Wisconsin.
RADAR contributed $200 towards the cost of Timmy’s veterinary care and surgery.
