Give a nod to Todd! This two-year-old red and white English Coonhound arrived at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on October 16th. Despite being a terrific dog in every respect, Todd languished at the shelter far too long. His future was made all the more uncertain because of his heartworm positive status.

Susan Blakeney, a volunteer with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, met Todd at the shelter to take his photos and update his description (two of Susan’s wonderful talents that greatly benefits dogs like Todd). Susan shared this with us about Todd: “He’s a very quiet and reserved fellow, with a sweet disposition and impeccable manners. He’s simply not at his best in the shelter, and needs to find a home with some peace and quiet to bring out his happy hound aura!” Click here to view more photos of Todd.

As soon as Susan spread the word (and photos) about Todd, Caring for Creatures in Virginia agreed to take him! The only obstacle now was that the rescue could not cover the costs of his initial vetting and heartworm treatment. Brigette, a dedicated transport volunteer in Pennsylvania, generously agreed to cover Todd’s initial vetting. Susan asked if RADAR would assist with the heartworm treatment, and we committed to assist.

Todd received his heartworm treatment on December 12th, and is now in temporary foster care awaiting his transport to Caring for Creatures.

RADAR has paid all of Todd’s $232 heartworm treatment cost.

UPDATE! Todd was transported to his rescue on December 29th! And his rescue has renamed him “Winston”!

UPDATE! All funds for Todd have been raised! Thank you!
