Tiny Tony was in totally terrible condition when he arrived at the Warren County Animal shelter in North Carolina on February 28th. We’re not sure why this one-year-old, seven-pound Chihuahua mix ended up at the shelter, but we do know that this poor little guy had a severe skin condition. He was totally hairless, and his eyes were almost crusted shut. Despite that, the folks at the shelter said that he was sweet and gentle.
That same day, Cathy Kerr with the HEART Pet Rescue in North Carolina reached out to RADAR for help with Tony. “He’s just in such horrible shape for a very young dog,” Cathy told us. “He doesn’t deserve to die in the shelter because of his skin and overall health, so we’d like to give him a chance to thrive and have a home. It’s going to be a long haul, but he deserves a chance to be a beloved pet.” We agreed to assist with his vetting costs to enable the rescue to pull him.
Tony received his initial vetting on March 12th and had extensive treatments for his skin infection. He was neutered on April 5th. “He is so pitiful looking,” Cathy said, “but a complete sweetheart! He will just need more time to heal and hopefully grow hair. Most of the scabby flakes are gone! There is new hair on his ears and some on his face. Little by little the old hair is falling out and new hair is growing in. He is sweet as can be! Thanks for helping us help him.” Click here to view more photos of Tony.
RADAR paid all of Tony’s initial vetting and neutering costs, which totaled $108.
