It would have been a tragedy and a travesty for Travis to have been euthanized. And that is what almost happened to this two-year-old Labrador Retriever mix. On July 10th, he arrived at the Bladen County Animal Shelter in Elizabethtown, North Carolina. This perfectly fine dog soon found himself on the shelter’s death row. Unless adopted or taken by a rescue, he was scheduled to be euthanized July 23rd.
The nonprofit group A Shelter Friend in North Carolina networked the plight of Travis. That put Travis on the radar of Debbi Zimmerman, who requested RADAR’s help for Travis on July 20th. We immediately provided an assistance offer as an incentive for a rescue to take him. On July 23rd, with time rapidly running out, City Dogs Rescue in Washington, DC, stepped up to take Travis!
Instead of being euthanized on July 23rd, Travis left the shelter and went directly to the vet. He had his initial vetting and neutering done on July 24th. Luckily, Travis tested heartworm negative. Click here to see more photos of Travis.
RADAR paid all $167 of the initial vetting and neutering costs for Travis.
