Many shared the same wish for Trish: to get her safely out of the shelter. About two years old and a Labrador Retriever mix, Trish was a stray who arrived at the Chester County Animal Care & Control shelter in South Carolina way back in mid-June. Other than an old leg injury, Trish was in good health. Despite endless networking and enough pledges raised to cover all of her costs, Trish lingered at the shelter for over six months!
Finally, on December 29th, a rescue was interested in Trish! The next day came the bad news that Trish had been mistakenly listed as heartworm negative. Unfortunately, she was heartworm positive. Already on the urgent list, this news put Trish in grave danger.
On December 30th, RADAR was asked to help. We immediately agreed to provide an offer to assist with her heartworm treatment as an incentive for a rescue to take her. On January 22nd, For the Love of Chester Dogs in South Carolina agreed to take Trish and get her vetting and heartworm treatment done so that she could go on to the Friends of Manchester Animal Shelter in New Hampshire. Trish received her heartworm treatment on January 28th.
Merrily Caldwell with For the Love of Chester Dogs shared this with us about Trish: “She is a very loving and sweet dog who gets along well with people and dogs. She loves to run and play. Trish will make an excellent companion dog!” Click here to view more photos of Trish.
RADAR paid all $150 of the heartworm treatment costs for Trish.
