Viva la Vivian! Two to three-year-old Vivian was surrendered to the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on June 6th. Surrendered along with Vivian were her three pups and their father, Devon. The pups were two to three months old. It was tough enough for this Bully Breed mix family to be at the shelter, but there was double trouble with both Vivian and Devon testing heartworm positive.
Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, contacted us on July 26th. “We have been pushing and pushing to get this whole family out,” Susan said, “and now we have an interested rescue, but they cannot pull the parents unless we can get their heartworm treatment done.” When we agreed to cover the costs for both dogs, One Life to Live Pet Rescue and Adoption in Pennsylvania committed to take the entire family! Vivian had her heartworm treatment on September 20th. Devon received his treatment on August 23rd.
“Devon and Vivian are both super-friendly, personable dogs,” Susan told us. “They are playful and gentle with their their pups. Vivian is the more laid back of the two. She paid attention to her surroundings, but seemed to be more accepting of the fact that she could not just get up and go. She patiently would wait her turn to get out of her kennel, and then would greet Devon, and her other kennel mates in a more matronly way!” To see more photos of Vivian, click here.
RADAR paid all of $284 of the heartworm treatment costs for Vivian.
