Where’s Waldo? We don’t know, but here’s Walin! This two-year-old Plott Hound-Pit Bull mix arrived at the Mercer County Animal Shelter in West Virginia on April 4th. With dogs subject to be euthanized starting on their 11th day at the shelter, by mid-April Walin’s life was in jeopardy. When Walin’s plight was brought to RADAR’s attention on April 27th, we immediately provided an offer to assist with his vet care as an incentive for a rescue to take him.
On April 30th, Susan Davis and her Sophie’s Safe Haven Animal Rescue in Maryland agreed to take Walin! He was safely out of the shelter and off to his foster home on May 3rd. On Sunday, May 11th, and just a day before his neutering was scheduled, Walin became very ill. He was taken to an emergency veterinary clinic for an exam and treatment. Parvovirus was a concern, but fortunately that was not the case. In a few days he was fully recovered.
We were told this about Walin from his foster mom: “This guy is just too sweet! His wants are simple: a few meals a day and a warm place to sleep. He just seems so content to be loved. For his first few days with us he moped around like he just wasn’t sure what was going on. Next thing you know, he’s running around playing with the boys and their toys!” Click here to see more photos of Walin.
RADAR paid $150 towards Walin’s emergency veterinary care and treatment.
