The situation was far from being easy-peasy for Weezie. Her owners were moving, but their dogs weren’t. So on July 30th, four-year-old Weezie, her four six-week-old pups and her one-year-old daughter Coolie were all surrendered to the Chesterfield County Animal Services shelter in South Carolina. This Australian Shepherd mix family found itself in dire straights. Making matters worse, both Weezie and Coolie tested heartworm positive.
Rebecca Davis at the shelter reached out to RADAR on August 10th. Home At Last Dog Rescue in Pennsylvania was interested in taking Weezie and the rest of her family if they could get some help with the heartworm treatment costs for both Weezie and Coolie. As much as we wanted to help, our available funds were very low. We made an urgent appeal to our supporters for donations for Weezie and Coolie. Within a few hours all the necessary funds were raised, and Weezie and Coolie were safe!
Weezie and Coolie received their heartworm treatment on September 30th and October 1st. Rebecca told us that Weezie is a very sweet laid-back girl who loves to lounge in her bed! She must be resting better these days knowing all of her family will now go on to loving forever homes. Click here to view more photos of Weezie.
RADAR paid $250 towards Weezie’s heartworm treatment costs.
