Sneak a peek at the sleek Zeek and you’ll see that his situation was bleak and he was up a creek. A five-year-old Shepherd mix, Zeek was surrendered by his owners to the Blount County Animal Center shelter in Tennessee on June 24th. Zeek’s owners were moving, but they didn’t want to take Zeek with them. The shelter staff suspected that this smart dog was never given much attention. He deserved a great forever home, but sadly he tested heartworm positive, which greatly limited his chances of getting adopted or rescued.

Kristin Baksa from the shelter contacted RADAR on July 18th asking for our help with Zeek’s heartworm treatment costs. We agreed to assist. Zeek received his heartworm treatment on July 29th. Fortunately, he was able to get placed in a temporary foster home.

Kristin shared this with us about Zeek: “He is a silly, fun-loving fella. He has a lot of energy and will benefit from some basic obedience training. But overall, he’s a good boy. He loves to go for walks, but you better hurry up! He’s a smart boy, but it’s doubtful anyone ever spent much time with him. He’s a puppy in a big dog body! Zeek gets along great with other dogs, especially those that can match his energy. e’s so energetic but very obedient and wants to please. His foster family loves him and will be a great asset finding this boy a home. Zeek is a great dog!” Click here to view more photos of Zeek.

RADAR paid $250 towards Zeek’s heartworm treatment costs.
