It’s the stunningly showy Zoey! Way back on February 27th, this two-year-old Hound mix arrived as a stray at the Chester County Animal Care & Control shelter in South Carolina. Despite her beauty, she lingered at the shelter for nearly three months. A major reason for this was that she was heartworm positive.
At long last on May 22nd, Maple Leaf Mutts rescue in Vermont expressed interest in taking Zoey. The only obstacle was funding for her heartworm treatment costs. The rescue sought RADAR’s assistance, and we agreed to do just that! Zoey had her heartworm treatment done on June 1st.
Emily Ward, an advocate and photographer for the Chester County dogs, offered these observations from her visits with Zoey at the shelter: “She is a sweet girl. She’s has a good nose on her so when you get her out of the kennel she wants to sniff more than anything. She likes kisses and she gives them back too. She may never be a clingy girl but she is always happy to meet a new person. Every time someone walked up, she got excited and wiggly. She is very beautiful. I got the impression she is just a very curious girl and wants to be everywhere investigating everything! She has been awesome with all dogs she has been tested with. She will also sit for treats!” Click here to view more photos of Zoey.
RADAR paid all of Zoey’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $250.
UPDATE! All funds for Zoey have been raised! Thank you!
